SICamp brings people who understand technology together with people who understand a social problem to build technology-based solutions for better healthcare.
Social Innovation Camp for Health 2013, Cebu, PH
This is a 6-7 month-long process that starts off with participants submitting a social idea they want help developing, and if selected, we help match them with all the skills and experience they need to make it into a real, working prototype project via an innovative two day workshop (SI Camp weekend). SI Camp weekend ends with a competition where an award of three-months ongoing support to the team who has shown the most potential will be given. During our Social Innovation Camp call for ideas, we’ll be looking for people who have an idea about how to achieve the health MDGs. We want ideas focused on using web and mobile tools to help improve the way healthcare is delivered, finance and experienced by Pinoys and people across the globe.
The reason why we are focusing on healthcare is because health technologies, and particularly mobile health technologies, are revolutionizing the way healthcare is perceived and practiced. It works for its users, simplifying the decision‐making process for providers, administrators, and patients into streamlined formats that are both functional and enjoyable to use. It increases the efficiencies of financial and human resources, allowing the nation’s dollars and talents to be used in the best way possible. Health technologies help patients to manage their conditions with fewer hospitalizations and better use of healthcare resources, putting health and wellness into a person’s hands. It creates and connects communities of health professionals and those they serve. We hope through this year’s SI Camp PH we are able to catalyse a movement of Health Innovations by Pinoys.
